With new ownership comes change. Change in the front office. Change on the sidelines. Change in the locker room. Change on the bench.

The new regime has already began some of their house cleaning, hiring Mike Malone to replace Keith Smart today with long time general manager Geoff Petrie not far behind.

It may not stop there though, not if you believe a recent tweet from Sam Amico (not to be confused with Sam Amick).

Amico reports that the addition of Mike Malone was made with the idea that DeMarcus Cousins “is a goner”.

Per Amico:

Source in tune with Kings’ hiring of Mike Malone as coach suggests move was made with the idea that DeMarcus Cousins “is a goner.”

Amico’s history is a bit hit and miss, often more miss, but he has nailed a few things as well so the report should be taken with a little bit of merit – key words, a little bit.

Still, until word leaks from a source closer to the Kings, it’s hard to take it too seriously at the current moment.

Update: Amico says he isn’t sure if he totally believes the source -

Not sure I totally believe source re: DeMarcus Cousins. Think Kings will at least give it a shot. Perhaps best big in game. On court anyway.
