Although we learned yesterday that there would be a procedural delay in the NBA’s Board of Governors vote, that doesn’t make their annual meeting – which starts today – null and void of Sacramento King talks. In fact, it’s the exact opposite.
No, there will be no official vote today nor will there be a vote tomorrow. A vote most likely wont happen for another week – maybe even two, but as News10’s Sean Cunningham reports – today is a big day in the NBA offices for both Sacramento and Seattle:
For those discouraged that no vote will happen this week on
#nbakings, today is crucial. Sub-committee makes recommendation for SAC/SEA
After sub-committee makes that recommendation for SAC/SEA, they will then present that to all 30 NBA owners Thurs & Fri.
The Sacramento ownership group submitted their final bid for the franchise last evening, which the NBA confirmed receipt of this morning. So now both ownership groups must sit back nervously as the future of the Kings’ franchise sits in the balance. There’s little else either side can do – outside of being available to answer questions from the BOG. Now, the clock begins to tick.
A decision shouldn’t extend too far down the road as the NBA needs to have the situation cleared to work on the 2013-2014 schedule as well as allowing the franchise to focus on basketball operations.
