There have been no shortage of suitors willing to put their money where their mouth is in an attempt to keep the Kings in Sacramento.
The potential ownership group hoping to keep the Kings local has been turning away investors in recent weeks, though, they did opt to bring in two final pieces before finalizing their ownership group.
Per the Sacramento Bee’s Tony Bizjak, the ownership group headed by Vivek Ranadive has added entrepreneur Andy Miller along with venture capitalist Naren Gupta:
Two more investors revealed as part of Sac arena team: venture capitalist Naren Gupta and tech entrepreneur Andy Miller. Sac group finalized
Gupta, the co-founder of Nexus Venture Partners (which claims to be India’s leading venture capitalist firm) along with Miller (who currently co-owns the Modesto Nuts – the Colorado Rockies’ Class-A affiliate as well as Leap Motion) join Vivek Ranadive, Mark Friedman, Mark Mastrov, Chris Kelly and the Jacobs family as the heavy investors in the group. That list does not include Ron Burkle, who recently decided to focus on the development of the surrounding areas of the proposed entertainment complex due to his conflict in interest – though – Mayor Kevin Johnson said that he expects Burkle to re-involve himself at a later date, though, he didn’t explore specifics on that topic.
The NBA will begin their BOG meetings this Wednesday with hopes that a decision in the Kings’ situation will be made before its completion late this week.
