With just a few hours until Here We Buy Night 2, former Sacramento King and now Philadelphia 76er big man Spencer Hawes has done his best to steal the spotlight – something he’s not very accustom to doing. The big man, who was being interviewed by the Philadelphia media during shoot-around this afternoon, was asked about the arena he once called home:

"Reporter: “This could be your last game in this arena right?”Hawes: “Uh, yeah”Reporter: “And that wouldn’t break your heart?”Hawes: Uh, no. As a native Seattleite that would not break my heart.”"

Look, I get where Hawes is coming from and he’s entitled to his opinion. He grew up a Sonics fan and playing for the Kings was nothing more than a job, but, it was a job he did for three years and a job where he was beloved by King fans, despite his struggles. So to crap on the former fanbase that pulled for you? Not exactly the most politically correct comment.

Of course, it’s not the first time in the past month or two that Hawes has ruffled the feathers of the Kingdom as Hawes congratulated Seattle on their acquisition of the Kings, for which he later apologized, claiming he was just excited at the notion. Either way, whatever love Sacramento had remaining for Hawes – he’s all but squashed. Not that he really cares.
