The rumored whales who’ve been in discussions to become major equity partners to purchase the Sacramento Kings are on the verge of being announced, this according to everybody’s favorite radio man, Carmichael Dave as well as Pro Basketball Talk’s Aaron Bruski.
While he’s still waiting on confirmation from the city, Carmichael Dave has reported that two sources have informed him of the pending announcement:
Two sources confirm whales will be announced this Thursday at Mayor’s State of the City address. Waiting on city to confirm….
The news from Carmichael Dave follows a handful of rumors that leaked earlier today that suggested the unnamed whales could be announced late this week, potentially Friday, though, CD had stated they could be named in this coming Thursday’s State of the City address.
Pro Basketball Talk’s Aaron Bruski also has apparent confirmation on the announcement, stating that the announcement could come before the suggested Friday date:
Source close to the situation says ‘whale’ announcement relating to Sac’s bid for Kings will come by Friday if not sooner.
Ron Burkle and Mark Mastrov have been the long rumored, though, never publicly named buyers who’ve expressed interest in purchasing the Kings but there was also word earlier in the day that suggested the rumored names may or may not be accurate. Per David Bienick of KCRA:
When asked if he knows who
#nbakings #whales are, Sac council member Cohn says he won’t contradict names reported by media.
What the “contradicting” means exactly, we don’t know – is it the rumored Burkle/Mastrov tandem as expected, is there another name in the mix or will an unrumored name(s) pop up? Sounds as we’ll be finding out in just a few short days.
