Outside of Mayor Kevin Johnson and Isaiah Thomas (and of course Scott Freshour), the Sacramento Kings don’t have much representation at this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game festivities. That said – despite their small footprint during the 72 hours of action, the few that are representing the city are doing yeoman’s work.
While we’ve already covered the apparent wonderful job Mayor Johnson is doing, tonight, Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas also put in his work – collecting an impressive line of 18 points, 10 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals on 7 of 10 shooting (including 4 of 6 from downtown). Thomas’ ten dimes tied for the game high alongside Ricky Rubio, despite Zeke’s lowly 21 minutes of action.
If not for the “Manimal”, Kenneth Faried and his 40 points and 10 rebounds, there’s a good chance Thomas would’ve come away with the game MVP as he and Faried powered Team Chuck to a 163-135 victory.
Either way, despite the limited defense and free-spirited style of the Rising Star’s Challenge, Thomas continued to prove his doubters wrong, racking up not only impressive numbers but efficient numbers – his +30 a game high with a 10 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.
Needless to say, Isaiah Thomas did Sacramento proud – not that we expected anything else from the former Huskie.
