When it comes to speaking highly of the Sacramento Kings, TNT isn’t usually the place you’d go. Between the small market persona and the losing ways, the Kings are usually only used as a punching bag – but not last night. The NBA on TNT crew, which includes Charles Barkley, former Sacramento King Kenny Smith, Shaq and E.J. brought up the potential sale during their post-game show and certainly held no words or feelings back in regards to the rumored move.
The strongest of those words came from Barkley, who while admitting his love for the Maloof family, called them out for disrespecting the Sacramento fanbase and in a round about way, told them they’re making a huge mistake. In addition, Barkley suggested that NBA Commissioner David Stern force the Maloof family to put the Kings up for sale, no matter if they stay or move, saying that Sacramento doesn’t deserve to go through this roller coaster ride every season:
First of all, I love the Maloof brothers, but they screwed this thing up royally. You know, all these teams try to screw these cities – that’s what the deal is.
But this is all about owners being greedy and just screwing these fans.
