Nothing is easy when it comes to the Maloof family – Sacramento King fans are well aware of this. Joe and Gavin, the two most visible brothers and the two who have long been associated with the franchise have continually expressed their desire to remain in Sacramento in the past, but recently have been out-shadowed by their brother George who seemingly has moving trucks backed up to the loading docks at Sleep Train Arena.
It was Joe and Gavin who initially wanted to make the arena deal in 2012 – but it was George who pulled his puppeteer strings, sabotaging the agreement as Joe and Gavin refused to stand up to their bully of a brother. But now that push has come to shove, Joe and Gavin may be finally standing their ground.
Channel 3 in Sacramento is reporting that the family as a unit is not sold on selling the Kings and it’s apparently creating internal conflict:
KCRA is reporting there’s division among the Maloof family members over whether to sell the Kings.
Anybody who follows the Kings or the Maloof’s know that they do absolutely nothing without their clan and feel the need to make every decision as a group, so the fact that there is differing opinions between the family – well, it appears not everybody is ready to get the moving boxes ready just yet.
Could this and the apparent rejection of the bid all be attempts to raise the price of the sale? It’s possible, but as we’ve seen time and time again – trying to predict what the Maloof family will do is a losing prospect.
