Carmichael Dave @ Carmichael Dave reported in a series of tweets, stunning news that major sponsors to the Sacramento Kings are pulling out their support to the Sacramento Kings:

Recapping Kings sponsors jumping ship: OUT: Carls Jr, Sleep Train ON THE ROCKS: Thunder Valley, VSP, Sutter Health. Ouch.

He later amended this to include:

UPDATE: for Kings: Sutter Health OUT

This was unanticipated news, to me. What it means in terms of future of the franchise in Sacramento remains unclear. It is also unclear whether these franchises know something the rest of don’t know, or if these are completely independent moves of one another.

Could this result in a domino effect, with even more sponsors pulling their support is a question that remains to be seen. It will be especially interesting to see if Thunder Valley gets added to the list. If his sources are correct this could indicate a move by well-known sponsors, including Carl’s Junior, Sutter Health, and Sleep Train to distance themselves from the franchise.
