While Sacramento wont ever be confused with the NBA’s big markets – they do share one common characteristic, at least according to ESPN – drama. The Worldwide Leader In Sports polled 100 of their “best” NBA minds for their Summer basketball forecast, asking what teams were due for a turnaround and what teams were ready for failure.

So how did our Sacramento Kings shape up?

Well, with 10 votes, the Kings found themselves on the “turmoil” list – the writers expecting another season full of drama courtesy of the Maloofs.

As Devin Kharpertian of the Nets blog Nets Are Scorching put it:

Feel bad for Sacramento. If not for ownership they might’ve even made the turnaround list. #nbapicks

The ten votes placed the Kings behind only the Orlando Magic (who received 15 votes) and the New York Knicks, who ran away with 41 votes from the panel of 100. If you’re more of a glass half full type, the Kings DID find themselves on the more positive turnaround list, receiving a single vote in the honorable mention section.

The New Jersey Nets, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards rounded out the top six on the turnaround list. A list, that as Kharpertian mentions, the Kings most likely would’ve found themselves on if not for a select grouping of people holding the franchise down.
