They waited until the last possible moment (Whiteside’s contract was to be guaranteed if not cut before today), but Hassan Whiteside has been released by the Sacramento Kings.
The former Marshall product never found his place in the NBA, splitting time between the D-League affiliate Reno Bighorns and the Sacramento Kings in his two years. Whiteside, the third pick in the second round of the ’10 NBA Draft only played in 19 games for the Kings, battling injuries and well, lack of skill.
Whiteside struggled during the first two games of the 2012-13 Summer League, being reportedly benched in Saturday’s contest due to a lack of hustle.
With a 7-0 foot frame, there’s no doubt Whiteside will catch on elsewhere, hopefully for the Kings, it wont come back to haunt them.
Good luck, Hassan.
