According to everybody’s favorite radio host Carmichael Dave (sorry Grant), Sacramento native and current Orlando Magic gunner Ryan Anderson was spotted dining with Kings GM Geoff Petrie this afternoon:
Spotted at lunch downtown today- local boy Ryan Anderson having lunch with Geoff Petrie and Wayne Cooper. More on

Dave will have more on the encounter on the CD Network tonight, but for now, it appears the Kings are quietly being aggressive in free agency as they promised the Sacramento Bee a few days ago.
Anderson, an Oak Ridge Hill product, is a restricted free agent giving the Magic equal opportunity to match any contract he would receive. For the Kings, structurally, it’s a solid fit as Anderson is a near 40% shooter from three the past two seasons and he comes with size at 6’10, 240. Getting an opportunity to play close to home also has to be a plus for the Cal graduate, but the addition would certainly create a logjam of bigs, especially if the Kings are to retain Jason Thompson. The fact that he’s also restricted means the Kings would have to more then likely overpay to get the Magic to let go of their grasp, something he may not be worth.
It seems like a longshot and it may just be precautionary if Jason Thompson is offered a contract the Kings deem too rich for their blood, a Plan B if you will. Either way, we should find out soon.
