Despite having some of the worst luck known to man in the NBA’s annual Draft Lottery, the Kings have recently found a golden horseshoe when it comes to the actual NBA Draft. The Kings took a “gamble” in 2009 and drafted eventual NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans and then somehow lucked into DeMarcus Cousins in 2010, despite having the fifth overall selection. Not to be outdone though, the Kings found a diamond in the rough last year with Isaiah Thomas and hope to have again had luck fall their way with their newest addition, Kansas’ Thomas Robinson.
Robinson, the fifth overall pick in this evening’s NBA Draft, was projected by many to be a top two pick, but when the Bobcats shocked much of the basketball world by taking Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Thomas began his mini-slide, all the way to Sacramento where his soon to be new teammates couldn’t hold back their excitement:

Tyreke Evans and Chuck Hayes, both of whom are on Twitter as well, didn’t post during the NBA Draft. Jason Thompson, also on Twitter, stopped posting moments before the Robinson pick (and understandably might not have been as thrilled given his position on the team is the most directly influenced).
Still, great to see the majority of the team so excited for the newest member of the Sacramento Kings.
