When it comes to the secrecy of NBA front offices, few are more quiet then that of the Sacramento Kings, so when outside rumors begin to float around, they’re always in question. However, Fox Sports’ Sam Amico has built quite the reputation on his solid accuracy, so reports that the Kings are in the market to move some of their main assets shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Amico not only touches on the Kings potentially offering up a package deal of Marcus Thornton/5th pick or Tyreke Evans/5th pick, but also how Andre Drummond (who’s schedule to work out for the Kings Thursday) factors into their plans:
Meanwhile, the Kings might be interested in moving their pick for a big man if Connecticut center Andre Drummond doesn’t drop to them at No. 5, says a source. “They have enough perimeter guys,” the source said. “In fact, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they saw what Marcus Thornton or Tyreke Evans, and maybe their pick, brought them. Probably not enough, but they really want another big to place alongside (DeMarcus) Cousins.”
While there is still plenty of time for draft boards to go haywire, it appears, at least as of now, that Drummond should drop into the Kings lap at five, assuming Davis, Gilchrist, Robinson and Beal go top four. Whether or not that’s a good thing, is subject to opinion.
Either way, we continue to see more rumors of a potential big shakeup in the Kingdom.
Should be a wild few weeks.
