Sacramento Kings Win 5th Pick In 2012 NBA Draft Lotto, Open To Trade Pick

The Sacramento Kings “won” the fifth pick in the 2012 NBA Draft Lottery this evening, making it one of the few times in recent years that the Kings draft position didn’t fall in the lottery. The Kings finished with the fifth worst record in the NBA (tied with New Jersey, won the coin flip) and will pick in the previously anticipated position.

The night wasn’t without news though, as ESPN’s Chad Ford made mention prior to the lottery that if the Kings were to stay in the top five draft slots (which they did), they would be the most likely candidate to trade the pick prior to the draft:

With the fifth pick at their disposal, along with a hefty amount of trade pieces like the previously mentioned Tyreke Evans, it should be a busy few months for the Sacramento franchise.
