You’d be hard pressed to find three or four rookies who had better seasons then the Kings’ Isaiah Thomas, but given Sacramento’s wasteland perception to “media” personalities, expecting Thomas to get a fair shake was wishful thinking.
Expecting him to place 7th though? Not even I would have assumed he’d fall that far.
Thomas, who received six, second place votes along with ten, third place votes came in behind players like Golden State’s Klay Thompson and Iman Shumpurt of the New York Knicks, who received an actual first place vote for rookie of the year, which says just about all you need to know when it comes to the validity of this award.
While Thomas never had any chance to place top two given the year from Kyrie Irving and the Ricky Rubio hype, the IT Factor was the only other rookie to join Irving as a two-time rookie of the month award winner.
Which is apparently good for 7th place.
Shame on you, voters.
