Kings To Extend Qualifying Offer To Jason Thompson

Credit: Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

Per Jason Jones:

Kings will extend a qualifying offer to Jason Thompson this offseason, per Geoff Petrie. JT’s play a reason Hickson was expendable.

A case of the obvious, as there would have been a pitchfork session had the Kings not – but news nevertheless. The offer will allow Thompson to accept a one year, $4.13 million dollar offer if he so chooses or accept an offer from an outside team (assuming no extension is agreed upon with the Kings).

Hopefully Petrie refrains from bidding against himself and a team comes up with an easily matchable bid, allowing JT to stick around in purple and black for the foreseeable future.

News: This ain’t it. (This is the case of: No fucking duh they’re extending a QO to JT.)

Btw Bryan, I don’t mean to criticize you. I’m more or less criticizing Petrie for this. It’s entirely a “PR” ploy to save his ass for his recently very poor performance.

Hopefully JT keeps playing the way he has been in the last three games he’s averaged double doubles in points and rebounds. If that’s the case then I’m cool with this

@Nate Hughart Ha, I didn’t take it that way – I thought it was a bit goofy they announced it to the media as well.
