With the NBA trade deadline officially less than a week away, the Sacramento Kings sit in a very unique position. Very few (other than potentially DeMarcus Cousins) can sit comfortably knowing they’ll be in Sacramento past next Thursday, but more than that, the Kings have a collection of potential trade pieces that span from bench players to prospective franchise building blocks – not to mention a gluten of available cap space for incoming salary.
The biggest name rumored to be on the block is obviously Tyreke Evans, who according to A Royal Pain readers were about a 50/50 split on if he’ll remain in Sacramento. But while Evans is the biggest name, the most likely to be moved would be young big man J.J. Hickson who’s been, well, less than awful during his first season for the purple and black. Unfortunately for the Kings (and apparently the Cleveland loving Hickson) his injury couldn’t have happened at a worse time as he needs to prove he’s fully recovered from the impairment prior to any move – and time is running out.
Along with both Evans and Hickson, multiple other Kings sit as prime targets for movement – Francisco Garcia, John Salmons, Donte Greene and more all wait to see if their number is called prior to next Thursday’s deadline – but despite the mass amount of Kings that are potentially sitting on the block, most of those potential trade opportunities will end up in lateral moves. If you want to alter the state of your franchise, well, you need to make a risky, difference making move – something Petrie hasn’t done for quite some time. I’m not suggestion that anybody inparticular needs to be moved – just stating the fact that moving a bench player for another bench player isn’t exactly the thing glorious franchises are built upon.
With that all said, who do you, as a Kings fan, want moved prior to the upcoming NBA trade deadline? You may select up to two players.
