Kings’ Hassan Whiteside Throws It Down, Gets Baptized In The Funk

When Hassan Whiteside was selected by the Kings in the ’10 draft out of Marshall, King fans were elated. Fast forward a season and a half and it took the big man all that time just to score his first NBA points. Needless to say, expectations had been severely lowered.

After never receiving more than over four minutes in an NBA game (which just happened a few weeks back), Keith Smart, who’s been recently putting extra emphasis on matchups threw Whiteside to the wolves Denver trees last night and Whiteside, well, he held his own actually, putting up 5 points, 7 boards and 2 blocks in just over 14 minutes of run.

And as can be seen above thanks to KingsFlix, Whiteside got baptized in the funk.

Check out the bench reaction – hell, check out Keith Smart’s reaction. You saw the mini hop.

J.J. Hickson – you’ve been warned. The Whiteside force is strong.
