ESPN’s Rick Reilly Pays 5K Over Slamming Kings’ Jimmer Fredette

I’ve never been a big fan of ESPN’s Rick Reilly. Hell, I’d go as far as to say I’m as far as a fan as possible when it comes to Reilly. But, I will say he’s a man of his word.

Back in March, the loudmouthed and highly opinionated Riley made waves when he said that Fredette wouldn’t be a good NBA player – in fact, I believe these were his exact words:

“…in five years, he’s got a really good chance to be your Provo area Isuzu dealer.”

He also mentioned that if Fredette started even one game his rookie season, he’d give five grand to his favorite charity. And while Fredette’s preseason opening starting gig might not have been a regular season tilt, he did start – and it was an NBA game, so Riley stayed true to his word Tuesday night in Sacramento.

Though, I did find one glaring issue with Reilly’s article, as he mentions that Fredette and fiance Whitney Wonnacott plan to marry June 1st in Colorado. My question is, how’s Jimmer going to get Finals MVP and make it to the wedding on time?

Eh. It’s Jimmer. He’ll figure it out.
