As teams continue to fill their big man voids, Samuel Dalembert‘s opportunities continue to dwindle – so much so that he’s probably only down to a very small handful of teams right now (as in two or three).
It’s been talked about (as recently as yesterday) that the Kings, after striking out on Jamal Crawford and struggling to sign Andrei Kirilenko may opt to give Samuel Dalembert a large one year deal, which certainly makes some sense for the purple and black. As for Dalembert, the big man free agent crop in 2012 is pretty suspect outside of Dwight Howard, so it’s reasonable to think that Dalembert could cash in next year as well if he was to take a lucrative one year offer from the Kings…
But nothing’s that easy.
Reports from Fox 26 in Houston say that Sam I Am and the Rockets front office are engaged in serious talks to bring the Haitian big man to Clutch City on a multi-year contract, easily beating out the lucrative one year offer the Kings could potentially present.
A tough stretch for the Kings in free agency as it’s possible they could lose out on three players they’ve shown interest in if both Kirilenko and Dalembert opt to play elsewhere. Though, in fairness, outside of Kirilenko the Kings offers, while financially lucrative, were short in length to maintain future financial flexibility and not ideal for players attempting to secure their future.
