Nick Young is a free agent for the first time in his career and may be forced to ponder leaving the only organization for which he has played. The Washington Wizards intend to retain him but realize that they will have competition from several teams, including Chicago, Denver, New Orleans, Sacramento and Phoenix, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
The interest seems oddball, to say the least, assuming the Kings retain Marcus Thornton – which leads me to believe this is a plan B. In that case, it’s understandable but the move makes little sense with Thornton on the roster as both play a similar style of ball – though, Thornton a better all around player.
Statistically, Young had a solid 2010-11 campaign, playing a career high 31 minutes a game and putting up 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists (also 1.4 turnovers) a game on 44% from the field, 39% from beyond the arc.
