There’s no doubt Samuel Dalembert still has strong interest in returning to Sacramento. The Kings currently have an open vault of money just waiting to be spent and Dalembert’s one of their main priorities – you do the math.
Reports last week from Sam Amick said that Sam I Am, despite his interest in playing for the Miami Heat (among other listed teams), wasn’t too keen on taking a hit on the pocket book just to go play for the chance at some jewelry, and now Yahoo’s beloved Wojo is hearing the same thing:
Miami has had strong interest in free-agent center Samuel Dalembert, but sources said it’s doubtful he would accept a midlevel exception at the expense of more lucrative offers available elsewhere. The Heat could use a portion of the midlevel to lure free-agent center Kwame Brown, who is strongly considering Miami. The Charlotte Bobcats are also pushing to hold onto Brown.
There are only two reasons for Sam to want Miami – location and a ring, and my guess is its in that order. Is it a ploy from Sam, hoping the Heat, who are in extreme need of a center, will offer up their full MLE? Certainly possible. The fit just seems too perfect to me – so close to his beloved Haiti, a chance at a ring, starting minutes on an elite team – what’s not to love outside of the drop in monetary gains?
That’s not to say Sacramento still isn’t in the mix – actually, I don’t see many other teams outside of Miami or Sacramento having much shot at Dalembert – it just comes down to money or location/sparkly things on your finger.
You can buy a lot of bling though with an extra 15 million dollars over the course of three years….
