Kings Brass Torn On Jimmer - Kawhi A Promise From The Kings?

Two little nuggets this morning – one from Hoopsworld, the other from Hoopsreport. Neither has shown themselves to be the most accurate when forecasting future NBA endeavors, so, you’ll need to take these for what they’re worth…

First, from Hoopsworld:

The Sacramento Kings are split on whether or not they should draft Jimmer Fredette with the seventh overall pick. Ownership wants the team to select Fredette because they feel he’s the big name who can generate interest and sell tickets, which is crucial for Sacramento at this point. However, the Kings’ coaching staff doesn’t feel that Fredette is the answer and have even made their case against drafting Fredette by breaking down his game film and presenting evidence to show why his transition to the NBA is expected to be a difficult one. At the end of the day, it sounds like the coaches will win out in Sacramento, which means the Kings will likely draft a small forward on Thursday.

Second, from Ryan Feldman of Hoopsreport:

Kawhi Leonard was scheduled to work out for the Jazz today or tomorrow but now isn’t. May be a sign he has a promise from the Kings.

Neither blurb really seems all that outlandish. We’re well aware of the Maloof’s love of all things Jimmer and it’s hard to believe the Kings would pass on Kawhi if he was still available at the seventh spot, but nothing too concrete either.

Three more days….
