Kings Cut Jermaine Taylor – Extend Qualifying Offer To Thornton

by Kings

Two small pieces of news to pass along…

First, Jermaine Taylor was given the pink slip this afternoon. Taylor’s contract ran through the 2012-2013 season if the Kings had so desired, but, it became non-guaranteed if waived before August 1st of this year.

Good guy – sad to see him go – but those things happen.

In other news, Jason Jones reports that the Kings have extended their qualifying offer to Marcus Thornton making him a restricted free agent, giving the Kings the right to match any offer on the open market. I highly doubt any contract will be even offered outside of Sacramento as the interest appears mutual by both Thornton and the Kings – a potential third party would be only wasting their time as the Kings would match any respectable offer.

As what had Alfred said, “I like Taylor”, I agree with him Taylor is definitely a good player and wherever team he is; he will be successful if his ability is utilized properly. But I am not shocked because it is a common occurrence in the sports world especially in basketball.
