If you haven’t heard, potential King draftee Kemba Walker canceled what was to be a scheduled workout by the Kings with BYU stud Jimmer Fredette this upcoming Thursday.
Speculation has ran wild as to why Walker has removed himself from the date – but it’s certainly not sitting pretty in the eyes of many King fans, many of them questioning the clutch UConn product’s metal fortitude.
As both Fredette and Walker were scheduled to workout in a head to head tilt, the most logical reasoning behind the cancellation comes from Walker’s agent. With a questionable draft and teams like the Raptors showing interest in Walker, being drafted as high as the third selection is a possibility. If Walker was to be outplayed by Fredette (entirely possible) who’s expected to be drafted a handful of picks later, Walker’s perceived draft value would most certainly drop – and if Walker was to outplay Fredette, chances are his draft stock wont raise much at all. Pretty much a little to gain, much to lose scenario, despite the annoyance of many Sacramento fans.
There’s no word if Walker has re-scheduled a workout with the Kings, but my guess is they’ll figure something out since Walker is a very real possibility for the Kings.
