Well, that didn’t take long…
Sources say Houston, which has the No. 14 pick, is interested in moving up in the draft. One potential partner might be Sacramento, as the Kings are believed to be open to such a move in exchange for impactful veteran help.
Initial impression? I’m more than okay moving the pick.
More thought out impression? Do the Rockets have anything the Kings would desire? Eh…
The 14th pick would most likely make it’s way to Sacramento – but what else? There just isn’t a lot on the current Rockets team that could fufill the needs the Kings desire. Their small forward situation isn’t any better than the purple and black – there aren’t a lot of guys that fit contractually – it’s just not a deal that makes a lot of sense for the Kings.
Sure, a guy like Kyle Lowry would be a nice addition – but does Houston actually move him? Courtney Lee wouldn’t hurt either – though, with Marcus Thornton coming back (we assume) the Kings have no need.
I wouldn’t be heartbroken if we moved the #7 for the #14 and Lowry, but, I don’t think Houston really entertains it and beyond that, I don’t see anything getting done without a third team involving themselves.
