Last night, yet again, the Kings were shown the fine line between being a good team and being a lotto team. After taking a lead late in the fourth after a storming comeback, the Kings were unable to keep that lead thanks to a flurry of ill-advised turnovers, mental lapses, and poor shot selection. It was yet another victory the Kings had snagged from the tip of their fingers – last night marking the (I believe…) thirty third time the Kings were tied or held the lead in the fourth and went on to lose.
The difference between being a good team and a fourteen win team in the NBA isn’t much – but last night was a perfect example as to why the Kings have 14 victories and the Blazers currently seed in the playoffs.
Despite the Kings winning woes though, you can’t say the boys aren’t entertaining – they’re a blast to watch, if you don’t feel like committing suicide over their mental brainfarts. Case in point – DeMarcus Cousins, who had a marvelous crossover last night on heralded defender Marcus Camby.
Seriously – how many big guys can do this? Let alone, a rookie, against a premier defender in the league? Say what you will about Cousins’ attitude, the guy has a skill set to be one of the most special players to ever wear the purple and black.
