As the Kings prepare to take on Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers tonight, you can’t help but look back on history – even if it’s just a little bit. Some might say it’s the ex-girlfriend syndrome, but to any person who loves the sport of basketball, the three consecutive years where the Kings and Lakers faced off in playoffs were spectacular. From the gut wrenching five game series in 99-00 (when the first round was still a best of five) to the Lakers sweep in 00-01 where 3 of the 4 games were decided in the final minute, it all came to a head in 01-02 when the Kings and Lakers engaged in one of the premier postseason series’ of all-time.
So today, with a lack of news hitting the headlines and a 10-33 record grinding on our basketball souls, we look back at the young, upstart Kings of 2000-2001 in “Sacramento Kings – Backstage with Ahmand Rashad”. I know a good handful of us have probably already seen this, but for those that haven’t – enjoy. And for those that have, take a little time to remember and think about what could be waiting in the wings for King fans in the near future.
