Earlier this evening, Tyreke’s brother Doc tweeted that the Kings franchise talent would be “out a while” after talking with him. For how long? That’s yet to be determined, but for anybody who’s ever had plantar fasciitis, they know the pain associated with it and the best way to fix it is simply rest.
I know I’ve seen quite a few King fans on message boards, other blogs, and call-in radio programs complaining about Evans, saying he’s not hurt, etc and I never understood the reasoning behind that. Evans is far too talented to be struggling at this level, for this long of a time frame. Period. He’s hurt and he has been, not only only from the PF but from his nagging ankle injuries and his bum elbow. He needs rest.
The season, from a win-loss perspective, is already a waste. The Kings aren’t going to gain much by letting a hurt Tyreke Evans play. I’ve said it for weeks now and I still stand by it. This was the correct move to make for both the Kings and Evans’ future.
Get well soon, Reke.
Update: Jason Jones reports Evans will not travel on the Kings three game road trip. He will be re-evaluated at the conclusion.
