The Kings are in Utah to battle the undefeated Jazz in one last preseason tuneup before Wednesday’s dogfight with the Timberwolves (wolves and dogs are of the same family; they’re DNA is almost identical. What? You don’t like it when I explain really bad puns with National Geographic articles?)
Here are some notes for tonight’s game:
- Hassan Whiteside will be making his preseason debut. The second round pick is widely considered by Kings and NBA fans in general as being a potential “steal of the draft”. Whiteside is an excellent shotblocker and a legit 7 footer.
- The Kings coaching staff has simplified the offense to promote better movement entirely within the offense. Tuesday’s game against the Clippers saw the Kings shoot a woeful 38 percent and be stymied by the Clippers defense.
- This will be Tyreke Evans last game before serving his suspension for driving really, really fast. We’ll see him next week against Ivan Drago’s New Jersey Nets.
- The Jazz are 7-0 this preseason. It’d be nice to end with a win and ruin Jerry Sloan’s dream of an undefeated (pre)season.
The game will not be broadcast on TV, but will be on the radio. Sports 1140 KHTK. Or you can just read the boxscore afterwards.
