DraftExpress, via Rotoworld, feel that the Kings are “smitten” with the Georgetown center and think there is a good chance the Kings may take him with the fifth pick. Now, this obviously didn’t come from the Kings as the front office is as tight lipped as a mute with their jaw wired shut. So, I’m taking a stab in the dark and saying this is coming from Monroe’s agent. I know, I know, it’s a risky call but my middle name is Danger.
I like Monroe – so, it’s not like I’m opposed to drafting him. I just think a lot more of Kentucky’s Demarcus Cousins. Now granted, Minnesota could be attempting to pull the wool over everybody and may still select Cousins without ever working him out (barring a late workout which is still plausible). Afterall, they did draft Ricky Rubio without ever working him out. Of course, that sorta blew up in their face – so I wouldn’t think David Kahn would take that risk again. Well, actually, never-mind. He’s apeshit crazy. He’s probably in Denver scouting Tim Tebow as we speak.
I still say that Cousins should be the Kings pick – and if Minnesota does select Cousins, then you start looking at Monroe at #5….but only then.
What are your thoughts? If Cousins is still available at five, do you take Monroe over Cousins?
