Tyreke Evans Detained By Police

This story sounds worse than it might be in all actuality, but in short, Kings star guard Tyreke Evans was detained, cited, and let go on his way by California Highway Patrol officers tonight.

California Highway Patrol spokeswoman Lizz Dutton said an air patrol unit spotted Evans’ 2010 Black Mercedes S550 around 6:51 p.m. speeding at over 100-miles-an-hour on westbound I-80 near the Antelope truck scales. CHP dispatched ground units to pull him over. They decided to make a “felony stop” because the windows on the car were illegally tinted.

Evans and his male passenger were both let go with a ticket once officers determined no drugs or alcohol was involved in the incident.

As for Evans, he’s proven to be a smart and well mannered guy during his short stint in Sacramento. But this was a stupid decision, any way you want to slice it. Not only could he have hurt himself, but, others as well. All one has to do is look at the fatal crash of one time NBA player Bobby Phills, who crashed his car at 75mph, racing teammate David Wesley after practice in 2000. Phills also crashed into an oncoming vehicle and injured those occupants, but, they recovered fully from their injuries.
