Kings Waive Joey Dorsey, McGuire Out For Season

With only 8 games left on the schedule, the timing of the move was odd to say the least, especially with Brockman, May, and Hawes all nursing injuries of some sort…but yesterday evening news broke that the Kings waived Joey Dorsey who was acquired from the Houston Rockets in the Carl Landry/Kevin Martin trade. Dorsey didn’t play much during his short stay in Sacramento, but, he did provide a nice “banging” presence off the bench, be it a limited sample size.

According to Wojo of Yahoo Sports, the Kings felt Dorsey’s “clownish” behavior was starting to rub off on fellow players and wanted to remove his personality from the team. They have no ill will towards him, but, coaches felt his act was starting to rub on other players.

In other news, Dominic McGuire who the Kings acquired at the trade deadline will miss the final 8 games of the season with a torn plantar fascia in his right foot. A real shame as McGuire provided a nice spark off the bench in extremely limited minutes. He might have the worst shot in the NBA, but, he plays tough and balls to the wall.

On the positive injury news front, Tyreke Evans practiced yesterday and reported no problems, so, he looks like a go for tonight’s tilt in Indiana. Jon Brockman, who’s been out since Februrary 17th is also expected to play tonight. Spencer Hawes who injured his back in Boston is probable, while Omri Casspi is questionable.

Garcia, who appears to have re-injured his broken wrist, is out tonight as is Sean May.
