On a night put on by the Kings to promote Tyreke Evans’ Rookie Of The Year campaign, the young point guard did not disappoint – nor did his fellow teammates. After a somewhat slow first half, Tyreke and the Kings dismantled our Canadian neighbors in the second half, storming the Raptors for 43 points in the third quarter. Yes, you read that right. The Kings scored nearly as many points in the third quarter as they did in the entire first half – and they didn’t stop the stranglehold in the forth quarter either, blasting the Raptors all night.
The stars were all over in purple and white – Beno Udrih was on fire throughout the night – Donte Greene was throwing down fancy dunks and swatting shots left and right – and Carl Landry, after a slow start, was controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. But with all that said, the star of the night was Tyreke Evans and rightfully so. The eventual Rookie Of The Year posted his first career triple double on the Kings promoted “#RekeROY” night, a campaign the franchise has been promoting on Twitter and on their own dedicated website Reke13.com. Evans finished the evening with 19/10/10 and was greeted with Rookie Of The Year chats any time the action paused with Evans holding the ball.
