If you’ve followed the Sacramento Kings the past decade, you’re all too familiar with athletic related injuries. I’m actually just about to gain my PhD in Sports Medicine without ever taking a college course. :\
So, this brings me to tonight – Tyreke Evans is doubtful for the home tilt versus the Nuggets tonight with a swollen/bruised right ankle. This is the same ankle that Evans sprained earlier in the year that has hampered him the past few weeks. And after two long overtime games for the Kings, Evans awoke Saturday morning with severe swelling in that ankle causing him to miss practice. The Kings are obviously taking the safe road with him – so don’t expect him to play tonight….but he might shock us all.
In other injury news, Kevin Martin is on his way back. Rumors still linger about a late January comeback but progress reports have been very positive so I’d expect Martin back here within the next two weeks, if not sooner. Francisco Garcia will be out a touch longer than Martin, but, a return after the All-Star break is looking likely.
On the positive side for the Kings, Sacramento killer and all around elite Point Guard Chauncy Billups will miss tonight’s game at Arco with a minor injury so rookie Ty Lawson will start in his place. A shame Evans wont get to go up against the much smaller guard.
