Sacramento Kings Extend Geoff Petrie

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Good news – well, I guess depending on who you ask.
The Kings announced that they have agreed to terms on a 3 year contract extension with current General Manager Geoff Petrie, a move that will keep the Kings braintrust in Sacramento through the 2013 season. The contract is a hefty pay cut for the two time GM of the year, who makes 4.6 million dollars this season. His extension will peak at 1,5 million dollars per year, with the first yet netting the quiet GM a paisley 1.2 million dollars.

Lions, Nuggets, Injuries – Oh My!

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Players, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

If you’ve followed the Sacramento Kings the past decade, you’re all too familiar with athletic related injuries. I’m actually just about to gain my PhD in Sports Medicine without ever taking a college course. :\
So, this brings me to tonight – Tyreke Evans is doubtful for the home tilt versus the Nuggets tonight with a swollen/bruised right ankle. This is the same ankle that Evans sprained earlier in the year that has hampered him the past few weeks. And after two long overtime games for the Kings, Evans awoke Saturday morning with severe swelling in that ankle causing him to [...]

Sacramento Kings Comeback – Beat Bulls For NBA Record

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Game Recaps | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

I’ve watched a lot of basketball. I’ve watched the Lakers win a game down 27 points to start the fourth quarter. I’ve watched Kobe Bryant score 81 points in a basketball game, though, as special as those were – I question if they were more impressive than tonight’s victory for the Sacramento Kings.
With 8:50 left in the third quarter, the sluggish Kings were getting destroyed by the Bulls (who shot 70% in the first quarter, nearing 40 points) who were winning by 35 points at the time. The something happened. Something – and don’t over blow this – but something [...]

Tyreke Evans Is Clutch

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Game Recaps, Players | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Do I really have to say anything else?
Another great game by the Kings rookie Point.
Special player. Very special player.
The most interesting part of this was the post game comments in which Evans explained knowing what Gilbert’s intentions were due to his desire to use the crossover in crucial game moments. Looks like he knew what was on the menu…

Sacramento Kings Looking To Extend GM Geoff Petrie

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to a report by Yahoo Sports, the Maloof family has decided they would like to extend Geoff Petrie’s contract which ends after this season.
Per the article:
The Maloofs insist they want an arena deal to stay in Sacramento, but Joe made one thing clear about the Kings’ future: Whatever instability that arises with the arena issue, he says he and his brother Gavin plan to sit down with general manager Geoff Petrie soon and begin talks on a contract extension.
“I think Geoff wants to see his work through, and for certain we want him to be our GM,” Joe Maloof [...]

Kevin Martin To Return In Three Weeks?

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Players, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

While it’s not set in stone, the Sacramento Bee is reporting that Kings star shooting guard Kevin Martin is due to return in about three weeks. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI this Friday to make sure the bone is healing correctly, and if all looks good, Martin is expected to return on December 30th against Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers, in Sacramento…which happens to be right at the starting period of a rough outlook of games.
“I’ll get back out there and everybody has got to keep playing their same game,” he said. “I’m not a guy who [...]

ESPN Picks Up Kings-Wizards Game on Dec 16

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Kings, NBA News, Players, Previews | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Yep – that stampede of footsteps you now hear is the national media starting to vulture around Tyreke Evans. The Western Conference Rookie Of The Month continues to earn praise from national media outlets and none bigger than ESPN who has decided to pick up the Kings-Wizards game on December 16th, at Arco. For those attending the game, it will be pushed back to a 7:30 PM start and for those not…and without league pass, enjoy the Kings first TRUE national broadcast game in quite a while. Not only that, it’s quite winnable for the youthful Kings…
Which brings me to [...]
