Yesterday as I was reading Skeets 10 Man Rotation, I came across this amazing interview conducted by the guys over at The Starting Five. Michael Tillery sat down with Chris Webber recently and got one of the most candid CWebb interviews you’ll ever read. This isn’t the typical bullcrap media interview or a team controlled interview, it’s Chris Webber in his most honest and rare form – a must read for any Sacramento King or Chris Webber fan.
One of the most interesting pieces in the article to me was when Chris recollected on how he thought of returning to Sacramento after the buyout in Philadelphia. And although he never mentions that a contract wasn’t offered, he does mention how the opportunity for Golden State arose which leads me to believe the opportunity wasn’t presented….or at least not in time.
MT: Was it contrived for you to retire as a Warrior?
CW: Truthfully, I wanted to retire as a King. I thought about going home and signing with Sacramento for one day, but again, signing with Golden State offered me closure I wouldn’t have had if I didn’t have the opportunity.
It’s an incredibly long read, but trust me, it’s well worth every moment of your time. Below are the three parts of the interview:
