Jon Brockman is a hoss. Even though he looks like a tree trunk, he actually moves his feet well, has the makings of a good team defender, and did a nice job on a couple of Toney Douglas-Jordan Hill pick-and-rolls. There’s no offensive game to speak of, but a good find by the Kings.
I watched Jon all Summer League (saw a few games during his college time being in Pac-10 territory as well) and I have to say that I’m pretty happy with the pick. Jon will never be much more than a rotation player, but, that’s okay. I’m a big fan of average. I do root for the Kings after all.
After I saw him set a few players in the Vegas Summer League onto their ass, and send a few more through the hardwood – I was in love. From a height standpoint, only 6’7 – it’s a negative, but, with a body wide as his – clearing out the lane will be no different than a fat man at Home Town Buffet. And if you’ve ever been attempting to put colorful little sprinkles on your mixed chocolate/vanilla sundae, and one of those fat…smelly…wheezing with every step hosses come lumbering you’re way – you know just what I’m talking about.
