Sean May, most known for his role as the starting Center on the University of North Carolina Tarheels basketball team, will work out for the Sacramento Kings today in Las Vegas, where the team is currently holding their yearly Summer League.
May told Charlotte Observer beat writer Rick Bonell that he will work out for four, possibly five teams this week in Vegas, one of which included the Sacramento Kings. He also mentioned that he will work out for Portland, Cleveland, the Los Angeles Clippers for sure and a possible fifth team.
The Charlotte Bobcats decided earlier this month not to extended him a qualifying offer which would have paid him 3.6 million dollars. Despite being named the Most Outstanding Player in the 2005 NCAA Tournament, and leading the Tarheels to a National Championship, May has never been able to get it going at the NBA level as he’s dealt with a variety of knee injuries and overweight issues.
May says he knees feel great and he’s been on a strict diet plan.
