Was Tyreke Evans The Right Pick?

Listen, I’ve got zero problem with Tyreke Evans…none. I think the kid was a stud at Memphis and to do what he did at 19 years of age in that conference was very special. He’s been a protege since he was a kid and I think the Kings got a hell of a player and I’m excited to have him.

That however doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed that we passed on Rubio.

Ricky Rubio would have been the perfect compliment to the Kings current roster even if Tyreke turns out to be the better player of the two….

Zach Harper over at Cowbell Kingdom explored what the analysts all said about the Rubio/Evans situation today, and it’s a great read which you can find here.

The overreaction by fans and media are nothing different to Geoff Petrie picks – actually, it’s near identical to last year when the Kings took Jason Thompson.

Geoff Petrie, famous for his philosophical quotes said during the Spencer Hawes draft pick, “To lead the choir, you must turn your back to the choir”…and turn his back he did to the Rubio draft pick.

If Geoff Petrie has shown anything during his career in Sacramento, it’s been his player evaluations and solid draft picks. So for now…we have to give Geoff the benefit of the doubt, even if I have to deflate my penis brain to the thought of Ricky Rubio in purple and black.

Also, a big welcome to Dunking With Wolves – the newest member of the network.
