With less than a week to go, the Kings have now reduced their potential player list down to four players (and maybe a 5th..but we’ll get to that later).
Sam Amick is reporting that sources inside the organization have confirmed that the Kings will make a choice between Ricky Rubio, Johnny Flynn, Tyreke Evans, or Stephen Curry. And if for some reason UConn center Hasheem Thabeet is not picked in the top 3, he will also get a look (be it minimal though).
Tomorrow the Kings plan to workout Evans and Flynn for a second time, and Curry for the first. Which to me appears that James Harden is no longer in the running.
Now listen, I have nothing against Curry – I think he’ll be a good player in the league, but we already have a roided up Curry in Kevin Martin. What the hell is the purpose of having two marshmallow guards?
Evans and Flynn I’m fine with, though, I’d like to think we could drop a few spots and get Flynn a little later. To me, they’re the backup plan to Rubio. If Rubio doesn’t fall to us, I’m fine with one of the above…more so Evans than Flynn. It’s not like 3’9 point guards are really that hot of a commodity. Oh, yea, he’s fast. I forgot. Don’t lynch me. The Road Runner is even faster, and he’s purple..ish. You wanna draft him too!?
Hopefully the basketball gods will look down upon us and bestow a moment of luck, luck that we need, and Rubio will slip to fourth. But listen, Ricky…if you do end up in purple and black, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pocket, you better use them to call the tailor.
Yea. That’s right. I AM the most interesting man in the world.
